Prop 28 Brings the Arts to Life at Elsinore Middle School’s First VAPA Showcase

Prop 28 is opening new doors for students at Elsinore Middle School—and that energy filled the campus during the school’s first-ever Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Showcase.

Classrooms, outdoor spaces, and performance areas were transformed into a dynamic celebration of creativity, where students proudly shared their talents in graphic design, sewing, painting, engineering, 3D printing, dance, and band. Every corner of the campus reflected the imagination, skill, and dedication of EMS scholars.

The showcase drew an incredible turnout, with families and community members coming together to experience and celebrate the work of students. The excitement and support throughout the event highlighted the powerful role the arts play in bringing a community together and amplifying student voice.

More than just a showcase, the event demonstrated what is possible when students are given access to meaningful opportunities in the arts. Students didn’t just display their work—they told stories, expressed ideas, and stepped into new levels of confidence and creativity.

These opportunities are made possible through Proposition 28 funding, which is expanding access to arts education across LEUSD. At Elsinore Middle School, this includes additional class periods, strengthened band programs, instruments, and Ballet Folklórico costumes—ensuring students have the tools and resources to explore their passions.

Elsinore Middle School’s first VAPA Showcase marks an exciting beginning, as the school continues to build a strong, vibrant arts program. Through efforts like this, students are not only discovering their talents—they are discovering what’s possible.
