Welcome to Ortega High School, Keith McCarthy High School, and Valley Adult School. Thank you for taking this opportunity to visit our schools through our website. We offer a variety programs on these three campuses to fit your student’s individual needs. We currently have a continuation program, an independent study program, and our adult GED, high school diploma and ESL programs. Our focus is to meet the needs of the alternative education student by offering quality teachers and coursework in a variety of settings. 
 
Each of our programs during the 2013-2014 school year was extremely successful and were awarded for their accomplishments with some important recognition. Ortega is currently a Model Continuation High School for a three year term. We are one of thirteen schools recognized in the state with this honor. Ortega also was recognized for the first time as a Tier One school for the military. This is a distinction that is not typically awarded to continuation schools. This classification will allow our students to enter the military directly out of high school. Keith McCarthy Academy maintains A-G status as a school this year. This validates the curriculum and instruction the students receive while attending our school and allows our students to earn credits towards any post-secondary program they may choose to enter. Valley Adult School was awarded a 6 year WASC accreditation. This is very important in the adult education arena. By receiving accreditation VAS students will earn a fully accredited high school diploma upon graduation. We are extremely proud of our school’s individual accomplishments.
 
This year, we have amazing teachers and support staff who are here to serve your student and meet their needs. Our goal is to always ensure that our students receive a quality education that can open doors to the next stage in their careers. We will strive to continue to offer these programs with the same level of rigor as offered by the comprehensive high schools and to improve on our graduation rates as our enrollment increases.
